The Best Books I Read in 2015
Happy Friday!
Welcome to our end-of-the-year Weekend Reads post!
Today, I want to share with you the best books I read in 2015.
I’ve been an avid reader since childhood, and my love of learning through the written word followed me into adulthood. As a wife and mom, I glean so much from wiser women who have been blessed with the gift of communication!
I read a number of books this year on a variety of topics (here’s my 2015 Reading List from January).
Below are my top picks of the year!
- Own Your Life, by Sally Clarkson
I ordered this book as soon as it hit the market in early January 2015, and I have literally read it (and re-read it) throughout the year.
If I had to choose just one book to recommend to other women, Own Your Life would be it.
Sally’s message of living an intentional, abundant life of joy and purpose through Christ is one that every woman needs to read and receive. I know I needed this book!
- Dancing With My Father, by Sally Clarkson
The theme of Dancing With My Father is JOY.
True contentment and joy are often elusive to so many Christian women, and Sally Clarkson addresses this topic in her usual engaging and real way.
- Lies Women Believe, by Nancy Leigh DeMoss
I picked up this book prepared to give it a cursory glance. (What lies could I possibly believe about God?)
This book was life changing! Lies Women Believe is must-read for every Christian woman.
- Choosing Gratitude, by Nancy Leigh Demoss
My friend and mentor, Carol Martin, recommended Choosing Gratitude to me before she passed away.
I am so thankful I took the time to read it.
- Fierce Women, by Kimberly Wagner
This one has been on my reading list all year, and I finally ordered it from Amazon a few months ago.
Generally, I take a few weeks to really read through and absorb a good book, but this was one I devoured in about three days!
If you’re a strong-willed, type-A personality, consider adding Fierce Women to your reading list.
- 10 Gifts of Wisdom: What Every Child Must Know Before They Leave Home, by Clay and Sally Clarkson
I thoroughly enjoyed the practical parenting wisdom in this book.
10 Gifts of Wisdom is definitely a book I have found myself referring to often throughout the year.
- Unglued: Making Wise Choices in the Midst of Raw Emotions, by Lysa TerKeurst
My friend from church recommended Unglued to me this summer, and I’m so glad I read it!
Lysa TerKeurst is a new voice in my world, and I related to so much of what she shared about emotions in this book. Unglued is definitely a must-read for every high-strung woman!
- Heartfelt Discipline, by Clay Clarkson
I found this book deeply challenging, on many levels.
Although I did not agree with every aspect of Clay Clarkson’s persuasion on Biblical parenting, this book was life-changing for me.
I would have benefited from the relational parenting approach shared in Heartfelt Discipline as a young mother, and would not hesitate to recommend it to other parents.
If you’re looking for a few good reads for 2016, I hope you’ll check out these books!
My life as a Christian woman, wife, and mom is enriched because of these inspiring authors.
