The Best Books I Read in 2017

Looking for reads to help you grow as a Christian woman, wife and mom?

Today I’m going to share my top reads from 2017.

I think you’ll find some great books for your 2018 reading list right here, and I’m keeping this list short for two reasons:

  • I only want to share the cream-of-the-crop titles
  • I don’t want you to feel overwhelmed by an exhausting list of books

If you’re a book worm (like I am), here’s the good news…

I have a really huge list of my favorite books (right here)!

I update this ultimate reading list every year, so check it out and pin it for later.

And here are the best books I read in 2017:

For months, I kept hearing about this particular book on Sally Clarkson’s podcasts.

I finally ordered Boundaries from Amazon, and started reading it last January.

This book was life-changing for me.

I’m typically a speed reader, but it took me about ten months to get through this book.

There was simply a lot for me to absorb and implement, and it just wasn’t a book I could quickly move through.

I recommend Boundaries for every Christian woman who wants to cultivate emotional health in her life.

This year, I plan to work through the Boundaries workbook, and I’m also reading Boundaries for Kids.

Love and Respect in the Family

Love and Respect in the Family, by Dr. Emerson Eggerichs, was another life-changing book for me.

The truths in this book opened up many healthy parenting concepts.

It addressed many issues in my heart as a mom, and offered a Biblical worldview with many practical applications.

Like Boundaries, it took me a while to read it from cover to cover.

By the time I reached the final page of this book, I found myself embracing a much more Biblical parenting paradigm.

Say Goodbye to Survival Mode

I’ve been a fan of Crystal Paine (the blogger at Money Saving Mom) for years, but last year was the first time I read any of her books.

Say Goodbye to Survival Mode is a book every woman should take the time to read.

I wrote an entire blog post about this book; you can read my full review here.

Grace for the Moment

Confession: this isn’t a book I have personally read from cover to cover.

I’m including it in this list, in case you’re looking for a great devotion book for your family.

Jeremy read from Grace for the Moment several evenings each week during our family devotions last year, and I found myself loving this devotion book by Max Lucado.

You can choose from morning or evening devotions (or read them both).

The readings are concise and engaging; even our young family (kids ages four through fourteen) could grasp the concepts Max Lucado unpacks in these short devotional readings.

You can find a copy of Grace for the Moment at a Christian book store, or on Amazon.

(There’s also a kids’ version of this book.)
